Mississippi

  1. Criteria for determining the disability: Unable to walk 200 feet without stopping to rest; unable to walk without the use of a brace, cane, crutch, another person, prosthetic device, etc.; restricted by lung disease; use of portable oxygen needed; restricted by a cardiac condition; restricted by arthritic, neurological, orthopedic condition.

  2. Placard design: Removable windshield placard displaying the International Symbol of Access, the identification number, the name of the person to whom the placard was issued, the expiration date and the seal of the state of Mississippi issued by the State Tax Commissioner.

  3. Parking space provisions: Each space will be marked with a sign bearing the International Symbol of Access. Complies with ADA Standards. 

  4. Enforcement/Penalties: Any person that parks in the parking space designated for persons with disabilities when not entitled to it - a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $200 for each violation, for a third and subsequent offense, the offender's driver's license will be suspended for ninety days; Any person that is not handicapped who intentionally and falsely represents itself in order to get such a permit - a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $200.
