South Carolina

  1. Criteria for determining the disability: An obvious physical disability that impairs the ability to walk or requires the use of a wheelchair, braces, walkers or crutches; loss of the use of one or both legs; restricted by lung disease; an impairment in mobility; determined by the Social Security Administration or the Veterans Administration to be totally and permanently disabled.

  2. Placard design: A removable windshield placard indicating the expiration date issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles. 

  3. Parking space provisions: None given.

  4. Enforcement/Penalties: Any person that parks in the parking space designated for person with disabilities when not entitled to it - a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $200 or imprisonment for not more than 30 days for each offense.
