Criteria for determining the disability: Disabled by paraplegia, amputation of leg, foot or both hands, or is disabled by the loss of the use of a leg, foot, or both hands; disabled by any other condition as certified by a licensed physician in not being able to get around without great difficulty, including impairments that confine such person to a wheelchair or cause such a person to walk without difficulty and insecurity, such as required use of braces or crutches, arthritis, spastics and those pulmonary or cardiac ills who may be semi ambulatory; a person with a vision of not more than 20/200 without correcting glasses.
Placard design: A removable placard bearing the expiration date, the International Symbol of Access and anything else as established by the Commissioner of Revenue.
Parking space provisions: Each space will be marked by a sign that indicates that such space is reserved for disabled and that unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles may be towed and the driver fined, the name and the phone number of the towing company or the owner of the property. Complies with the ADA Standards.
Enforcement/Penalties: Any person that is not disabled but uses parking permit issued to a disabled person - a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $100, and the permit will be confiscated; Any person that parks in the parking space designated for persons with disabilities when not entitled to it - a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $100; Any person that unlawfully sells, copies, duplicates, manufactures, or assists in such - a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine of a minimum of $100 and imprisonment for a time in the discretion of the court.
